ONTA Foundation is once again requesting applications for six graduate and undergraduate student travel awards to attend the ONTA 47th Annual Meeting held during May 17-22, 2015, in Varadero, Cuba. Each of the awards will be in the amount of $500 (USD).
The deadline for applying for these awards is April 10, 2015.
Competition Guidelines
To be eligible for these awards, an individual must participate in the Rod Rodríguez-Kábana Student Poster Competition. Documentation for travel award should include: i) application form, ii) a copy of the abstract, iii) a one page biographical sketch and iv) a letter from the major professor certifying the status of need of the applicant. These documents should be submitted to Dr. Charles Overstreet (coverstreet@agcenter.lsu.edu), who has been appointed Chair of the Award Committee by the Board of Directors of ONTA Foundation. A copy of the abstract should be sent also to Dr. Janete Brito (janete.brito@freshfromflorida.com)who serves on the Foundation award committee. Specify in your e-mail that the abstract is intended for the Rod Rodríguez-Kábana Student Poster Competition.
Members of the committee for judging this competition are selected by the chair among scientists of different nationality and recognized internationally for their research, expertise and teaching in the field of nematology. Committee members will judge the qualifications of the applicant using the following criteria: i) scientific quality of the research to be presented, ii) conciseness, clarity and readability of the abstract submitted and iii) financial need.

Asistencia Económica para Asistir
A la 47 Reunión Anual de ONTA

La Fundación ONTA otorgará a seis estudiantes una ayuda económica en viáticos para asistir a la 47 Reunión Anual de ONTA que se desarrollará del 17-22 de Mayo de 2015 en Varadero, Cuba. Cada premio consistirá en $500 (USD).
La fecha límite para la presentación de la solicitud es el 10 de Abril de 2015.
Para solicitar esta ayuda, el estudiante deberá participar en el Concurso de Carteles Rod Rodríguez-Kábana. Los candidatos deberán: i) completar el formulario oficial, ii) enviar el resumen de su trabajo, iii) incluir una página con su biografía e iv) incluir una carta o constancia de su profesor o director que indica la necesidad de una ayuda económica. Envíe toda la información al Dr. Charles Overstreet (coverstreet@agcenter.lsu.edu), quienfue nombrado Coordinador de este Comité por la Junta Directiva de la Fundación ONTA. También envíe una copia del resumen a la Dra. Janete Brito ((janete.brito@freshfromflorida.com)quien es miembro del Comité de Premios de la Fundación. Indique en su correo que el resumen es para el Concurso de Carteles Rod Rodríguez-Kábana.
Los miembros del comité que selecciona los recipientes de esta ayuda son de nacionalidades diversas, científicos reconocidos por su excelencia en investigación y tienen experiencia en la enseñanza de la nematología. Evaluarán las solicitudes basándose en la calidad científica del trabajo, la redacción del resumen y la necesidad económica del estudiante.
