The Organization of Nematologists of Tropical America FL, Inc. (ONTA) is a nonprofit entity comprised of members who have an interest in the study of plant-parasitic, free-living and insect-parasitic nematodes.

ROD RODRÍGUEZ-KÁBANA STUDENT POSTER COMPETITION.

Competition Guidelines:

• All graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to participate in the annual Rod Rodríguez-Kábana student poster competition sponsored by the ONTA Foundation,Inc.

• At least one of the authors of the poster must be an ONTA member (i.e., preferably the student applying to enter the competition). Students are encouraged to become ONTA members. Please go to ( https://ontaweb.org/ ) to become a member.

• Posters should be written and presented in English.

• Each student will have 12 minutes to present his/her poster to the Rod Rodríguez-Kábana Student Poster Competition Committee and 3 minutes to answer questions.

• Research subject must be original and performed by the student, with preferably no more than five authors.

• Deadline for abstract submission is 15th April 2016.

Please submit your abstract via the SON website (http://www.nematologists.org/). If you are not able to submit your abstract(s) via the SON webpage, please send your abstract in a PC compatible format as an e-mail attachment to: Patricia.Timper@ars.usda.gov . Aslo, please send a copy of your abstract to Dr. Janete Brito. Before submitting your abstract, please make it sure you have typed “ONTA Student Poster Competition” in your e-mail’s subject line.

 

Awards will be given during the ONTA Honors and Awards Banquet. First, second and third place will be given monetary awards as follows:

  • First place: $500.00
  • Second place: $300.00
  • Third place: $200.00
